Welcome back! This week I will apps that make your photos look like they never came off of your phone. So sit back with your cup of coffee or whatever your choice of drink is and enjoy my following gibberish about wonderful, unbelievable, and incredible apps. Okay so maybe I got a little carried away but there are some pretty awesome apps out there that make cell phone photography pretty awesome.

Pop Colors Effect

The first one if probably my most favorite and the only one I have paid for so far, Picsay Pro. Picsay Pro is like Photoshop on your phone, I loveit, and it can do a lot for a phone app that lets you edit pictures. It has a feature called Pop Colors, this is where you turn a color picture to black and white and then you go over the picture with your finger and the actual color photo will start coming through on it. You can adjust the “pen” size of how much color is being erased to show through of the original color photo to give it the Pop Color Effect. You can add text to your photos and you can add special effects to the text and makes it pretty crazy for some of the things you can do with it. Also using the text you can add your own signature to each photo so people know who did it when you upload it the web. They also have two font packs out that you can get off of the android market for Picsay Pro also. Basically Picsay Pro makes it so you can add a personal touch to all your cell phone photos and also gives it a professional look. They also offer a free version of this app for you to try out.

The next app that I will talk about is Retro Camera, this app you can get a free version of it, but it is not as much fun as the paid version. This app I got the full version for free off of Amazon apps for Android phones. But Retro Camera offers you the choice of 5 cameras, 5 sets of vintage vignetting, film scratch & cross processing effects for that off-the-hip analog look. The two that I use the most on it is The Pin Hole Camera and The Little Orange Box Camera, click the previous links to see examples. But this app gives your photos taken with the cameras a nice old school look that everyone seems to like now a days.

Then there is LittlePhoto app, this one is a fun app, a lot like Picsay, it has a lot of features and photo effects you can play with and put towards photos. For the little playing around I have done with it is a very nice app especially for the price, FREE!!!! Granted you can buy a plug-in for the app but that really does not add many features to it to make it worthwhile from what I have read up on it. LittlePhoto is used by 28,000 people not just because it is free but because the effects it can do to your photos. They have a camera feature on it were you can take a picture with that app and add the different effects, or you can open any photo in LittlePhoto to add effects to your liking once you play with it and learn what you like.

There are other apps for helping you take panorama photos like Pano, Photaf 3D Panorama and Photo Stitch. Then for those of you who are into the new like HDR photos, High Dynamic Range. To help with this a few App developers have come out with HDR Camera+ and Pro HDR Camera. There are more out there to use but these are just a few of the ones I used on a daily basis and others I have tried out a few times just to see how they worked. Check back next week to hear about a new feature I just found and took up that works with cell phone photography and make throws a twist into to make it fun.

Welcome to my very first official blog post, first off I am not a professional writer. I am just a normal person, depending on your definition of normal that is. Like I said I do not write for a living so I am not big on correct grammar when it comes to it, spelling will be good but that is because I have spell check on as I type this. I should not say I Am not a writer because I do write code to build some really cool and functional websites, but not this kind of writing you do for a blog. So all of you grammar Nazis who are going to want to comment and correct something DON’T, cause I DON’T care.

Now on to my post cell phone photography, as an avid photographer or someone who used to love to go out and take some crazy photos or nice scenic photos a cell phone never crossed my mind to be a style of photography for some. This is something that sparked my interest a couple years ago when I got my first cell phone with a real camera, a LG Dare. Then last fall when my wife and I renewed our contracts through our cell phone provider I picked up a HTC Incredible, the Incredible is a smart phone with an Android OS. With this phone came apps unbelievable awesome photo apps for my cell phone. I found apps were you could take pictures in certain styles that you would need Adobe Photoshop to do. There were apps were you could do photo editing right on your phone without having to use Adobe Photoshop. I found cell phone camera extensions like lens that you can change out for different effects. Then I am finding cell phone photographer groups and communities that you can join and be part of to learn more. Over the next few weeks I will cover each the apps, cell phone lens, and the few communities I have found in different posts on my blog.

Some of the different communities and groups I have found that you can join and participate in some of their activities and other good things are The Andrographer you can find there Facebook page here and there Twitter page here. I have just recently joined up with them and there are a lot of pointers on there for taking photos. A lot of friendly and helpful people that are there too sharing apps and camera add-ons like lens and other goodies you can get. This group Android Photographer is a group that you will find on Flickr along with Cell Phone Photography. Both of these Flickr groups are full of friendly helpful people to help you find the right apps and whatever else it takes to get a good photo on your phone.

I am sure there are more groups out there and maybe with this post I will be introduced to more of them that are out there. I hope you come back next week to see my next post that will cover apps and cell phone extensions to for your android phone. Until next time have fun with your cell phone photography.

My Blog will be a new addition to the site, I will be blogging about the things I am interested in such as photography and what goes with that from camera apps for phones to photoshop tutorial pages and other things that go with photography. A few other things I will be blogging about are Web design and development, which will also include tutorials and sites that offer some pretty sweet ideas for your sites like scripts and other goodies. I will also have things like music videos for bands that I like and possibly book reviews of books that I have read (duh!). I am pretty sure since I am a tech gadget geek and I spend all sorts of time reading on mashable.com and engadget.com I am pretty sure you will see post about future electronics that are up and coming that interest me. I am currently in the process of looking at buying a HD camera and hoping to do some learning in that area and maybe make some mini home movies, got a green screen and would like to put it to some use. So look for my posting some of those here eventually.

So hopefully this will be up and live on my actual site if I can get the blog layout part figured out first here. Thank You and I look forward to having this up and going here soon.
